MIROSLAV PÁRAL | UNFINISHED EXHIBITION | 15. 6. — 20. 8. 23
I only got to know Miroslav Páral in the last decade of his life as a hardworking, straight-forward and also "unadaptable" person to today's demanding times. He felt guilty for his opinions, but he still stood firmly behind them and expressed it in his works. He left his mark on his works and somewhat resembled them - brutal and uncouth, but still a "gentle barbarian" and a rebel on the path to freedom, both his personal and creative, but also that of society as a whole, whose threat and persistent restrictions he deeply perceived.
On his last birthday, I wrote to him: I would like to wish you, above all, strength and health, so that you can continue to do what you do. Allow me to pay tribute to the man who did not bend his spine even when it was still flexible – and when it was generally expected. May you continue to like women and your work goes smoothly. Regardless of his sudden departure, I believe that he continues to like women and his works will speak to us with their relevance and sincerity for a long time to come.
We prepared this exhibition together with Miroslav Páral. He personally visited the exhibition space and created some works especially for this exhibition. However, a small virus caused the preparation to drag on for several years and the author himself did not live to see it open. The exhibition remains unfinished, but nevertheless deeply revealing about the life and work of the unbridled author who still wanted to say so much. The exhibition is also probably the last opportunity to see Miroslav Páral's entire work nicely "together" and our goal is to conclude his work in a dignified manner and thereby pay final tribute to the great man whom I personally respected very much.
