About the author:
Silvie Kořistková is a Czech visual artist whose work explores the boundaries between abstraction and figuration. She focuses on landscape as an internal state – a space of memory, experience, and perception, which can manifest through abstract forms, portraits, and animal motifs. Her paintings are not descriptions of concrete reality but rather records of process, tension, and transformation.
She primarily works with acrylics, often using her fingers, in direct contact with the material. Structure, layering, and intuitive decision-making during painting play a crucial role in her work. The resulting paintings carry significant weight, traces of the process, and the physical presence of color.
Her work features abstract landscapes, portraits, and animal figures, which are not understood as isolated motifs but as part of a broader space. Here, the landscape functions as a carrier of memory and inner experience, while the figure – human or animal – becomes its natural component.
