About the artist:
Silvie Kořistková is a Czech visual artist whose work straddles the line between abstraction and figuration. She focuses on landscape as an inner state – a space of memory, experience, and perception that can manifest through abstract forms, portraits, and animal motifs. Her paintings are not descriptions of concrete reality but rather records of process, tension, and transformation.
She works primarily with acrylics, often directly with her fingers, in direct contact with the material. Structure, layering, and intuitive decision-making during the painting process play an important role in her work. The resulting paintings bear a distinct materiality, a trace of the process, and the physical presence of color.
Her work features abstract landscapes, portraits, and animal figures, which are not understood as separate motifs but as part of a broader space. Here, the landscape functions as a carrier of memory and inner experience, while the figure – human or animal – becomes its natural component.
