OLDŘICH KULHÁNEK
Oldřich Kulhánek (1940-2013) was a Czech painter, graphic artist, and illustrator. He is the author not only of the graphic design of current Czech banknotes but also created many Czech postage stamps and a vast number of prints and lithographs.
He received numerous prestigious awards, and his works are represented in many world collections. The foundation of Kulhánek's work was primarily graphic art and drawing, often focused on human physiognomy and expressing the character of human faces, into which the personality traits, living conditions, and personal experiences of the figures he depicted were etched.
In addition to his artistic work, he also worked as a stage designer and teacher. He was the president of the Hollar Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting, protecting, and developing Czech graphic art and drawing.
