10. 4. 2025 | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION OF FRANTIŠEK RINGO ČECH AND OTÁ JIRÁK
No stone has been left unturned in our Gallery, and as far as the eye can see, you will see the works of a versatile artist, musician, painter, and most importantly, entertainer. FRANCISKA RINGO ČECHA and his friend OTY JIRÁK. Yesterday we officially opened the exhibition and a number of important guests came to open it – in addition to the two authors, we can name the actor Miroslav Donutil or Jan Kanyza , who gave the opening speech. The exhibition was also artistically evaluated by Jiří Anderle , whose presence we deeply appreciate, and for example also Professor Jan Pirk, MD or a phenomenal tennis player Jan Kodes.
Frantisek Ringo Cech (9. 7. 1943) became famous mainly as a musician, lyricist, playwright and writer. He has been painting since 1973 and has gained a wide circle of fans with his original technique and humorous themes. In his works, he glosses over the life around him and critically and incorrectly expresses himself on the topics of the development of the world and society. He has always entertained people, and he has never been alone – whether on stage with the group OLYMPIC or in his Provisional Theatre. And he will not be alone at our exhibition, to which he invited his long-time companion and friend OTU JIRÁK , with whom he once started together in the SEMAFOR Theatre .
OTA JIRÁK (April 12, 1949) is an actor and artist, and is a prominent figure in Czech theater, film and dubbing. He lent his voice, for example, to Rubeus Hagrid from the Harry Potter saga or to the alien Alf. However, his voice is most etched in our hearts in the form of the character HELE, who together with JŮ alias Jiří Lábus has been courting this cuddly couple from Studio Kamarád for more than 40 years.
As for Ota Jirák's art, it is relatively unknown. Ota has a penchant for caricatures and paintings that capture exaggerated, even grotesque features of people or animals. This work is directly inspired by his sense of humor and dramatic expression, which allows him to enrich his art work with absurdities and unique comic elements. He created a number of miniatures, enamels, drawings and illustrations that have a strongly expressive style and a simplified, yet very concise form.
