The book "Vlastní cestou" (My Own Way) is an elaborate pictorial publication conceived as a selection of Zdeněk Burian's originals from a significant private collection.
It is divided into six thematically different chapters, its focus lies in reproductions of book and magazine adventure illustrations created primarily using the gouache technique (Verne, May, Vráz, and others); however, paintings and illustrations with prehistoric themes are also present.
Some of the chapters are accompanied by a monographic text about Zdeněk Burian, which describes the artist's life and work, focusing in more detail on gouache painting.
The publication features high-quality printing and sensitive graphic design; some of Burian's illustrations were reproduced in such quality for the very first time.
