About the author:
Jan Kanyza (*1947) is a Czech actor and artist. He studied at DAMU in Prague under Professor Miloš Nedbal and worked primarily as an actor throughout his life.
He has been involved in fine art since the 1970s; painting represents a means of artistic expression and a parallel world to theater and film for him. In addition to painting and graphics, he occasionally engages in ceramics. He is a co-founder of the art group Tolerance 95 and a member of the Syndicate of Fine Artists.
His painting style oscillates between expressive abstraction and lyrical compositions with figurative elements. He primarily uses acrylic and mixed media techniques. He draws inspiration from music, nature, and inner experiences.
He regularly exhibits his works in galleries in the Czech Republic and abroad – including France, Germany, Switzerland, and the USA. He lives and works alternately in Prague and Provence.
