About the artist:
An American artist whose works burst with colors, patterns, and cultural references, whether you view them on the street or in an art gallery. Death NYC alternates images of famous personalities – Marilyn Monroe, Barack Obama, or Mickey Mouse – with iconic motifs from art history, such as Andy Warhol's soup can or Jeff Koons' balloon dog. In doing so, she creates collages that poke fun at pop-culture, media-“adored idols.” One of her most famous works depicts Mao Zedong with a pink bow in his hair and pink lipstick. The humorous and often irreverent street art works of Death NYC are frequently accompanied by the ominous inscription “DEATH,” which is an acronym for “Don't Easily Abandon The Hope.” Death NYC comes from New York and remains anonymous to protect the freedom of her street art creations.
