About the author:
Marina Richter (*1962) is a graphic artist, painter, and creator of Czech and foreign stamps. She was born in Moscow, where she graduated from a French lyceum and the Secondary School of Applied Arts, specializing in miniatures and icons. Since 1983, she has been living and working in Prague.
In 1990, she graduated from UMPRUM (Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague) with a degree in illustration and graphic design. Currently, she focuses on free graphics, creating ex-libris, drawing, and illustration. In her graphic work, she uses not only etching but primarily lithography, which she prints in the workshop of Master Petr Korbelář. These are masterful works, as can be seen, for example, in her ex-libris and free graphics.
Thematically, Marina Richter combines classical Japanese woodcut forms with the technique of lithography. Many of her themes also come from antiquity, the Middle Ages, or mysticism. Her signature style is clear and distinct, and her works are part of private collections in many countries, including the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Italy, the USA, Belgium, Switzerland, Japan, and Russia.
