About the author:
Ota Jirák (born April 12, 1949) graduated from the Faculty of Puppetry at DAMU. He gradually rose to prominence as a significant figure in Czech theatre and film, working primarily at the Semafor Theatre and F. R. Čech's Provisional Theatre. He lent his voice to characters such as the plush puppet Hele (he and Jiří Lábus have been voicing Jů and Hele for over 40 years), Rubeus Hagrid from the Harry Potter saga, and the alien Alf. Regarding his artistic work, Ota Jirák has a fondness for caricatures and paintings that capture exaggerated, even grotesque features of people or animals. This work is directly inspired by his sense of humour and dramatic expression, allowing him to enrich his artistic work with absurdities and unique comical elements. He has created a number of enamels, drawings, and illustrations that possess a strongly expressive style and a simplified, yet apt form.
