About the artist:
Andy Warhol - SK/USA (1928-1987).
American painter, graphic artist, filmmaker and leading figure of the Pop Art movement. Like his contemporaries Roy Lichtenstein and Mel Ramos, Warhol reacted to the mass media culture of the 1960s. His silkscreen prints of cultural and consumer icons (Marilyn Monroe, Mickey Mouse, Campbell's soup, etc.) became icons themselves, making him one of the most famous artists of his generation. His studio, "The Factory," was a meeting place for film stars, models, and artists, who in turn became "fodder" for his prints and films. His works are represented in the most important galleries around the world.
