About the author:
Martin Manojlín (1972) graduated in 1995 from the Faculty of Education of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, where he studied Czech language - art education. It was here that he began to discover his interest in graphics, especially in relief printing techniques.
He honed his artistic talent under the guidance of excellent graphic artists such as Prof. Miloš Michálek and Alois Kračmar. Since 2015, he has been a member of SČUG Hollar.
In his graphic work, Martin Manojlín focuses on relief printing techniques – primarily linocut in combination with woodcut and printing from various structural materials. These are mostly multi-color overprints from several matrices, and the printing process is quite complicated, so the author prints all sheets exclusively himself. Often, before printing another color, he uncovers the matrices and also uses the structures of various materials in the print, or prints on colored papers to enhance the work's impact.
Martin Manojlín creates both loose graphic sheets and ex-libris. Since 2011, he has printed ex-libris almost exclusively on A4 paper. Natural motifs dominate his art, which he translates into both concrete depictions and abstract forms. His work has been recognized multiple times at various competitions, triennials, and biennials in the Czech Republic and abroad.
