The title of Klára's monograph, small in scope but the first comprehensive one, refers to the title of Vladimír Vondráček and František Holub's book – Fantastic and Magical from a Psychiatric Perspective. Klára, in her paintings, tries to capture a certain fantastic or magical reality, while simultaneously understanding it with her own mind and interpreting it artistically, or allegorizing it. In this respect, she approaches fantastic and magical themes similarly to the authors of the aforementioned popular science book, first published in the 1960s.
The book reflects the wide thematic diversity of Klára Sedlo's work. In addition to the biographical and introductory passages, it is divided into 33 chapters that follow individual themes in a historical context: symbols of religion, faith, and various sacred cults, magical objects – fetishes, protective amulets and talismans, and last but not least, supernatural beings – folklore characters from various parts of the world, not only from the world of myths, legends, and fairy tales, but also those falling under so-called cryptozoology. In addition to the basic characteristics of the phenomenon, each chapter is supplemented with one reproduction of Klára's work, which in some way reflects or directly depicts the theme, including the context of its creation.
