The narrative pictorial monograph is the first worthy book tribute to the king of Czech comics. Kája Saudek was not only the author of bold comics, but also a skilled promotional graphic artist and artistic solitaire who successfully moved between film, applied graphics, illustration and free painting.
In the author's masterpieces, mostly created during the 1960s, the atmosphere of the time is intertwined with an extremely impressive artistic style, unique even in the world context. However, the book also brings a number of completely unknown and previously unpublished works by Saudek and also demonstrates that he became a distinctive portraitist of many famous faces of the cultural, mainly musical, world.
After a detailed introductory chapter (Search and Maturation), the extensive publication is divided into sections Film and Television, Comics and Drawings, Advertising and Applied Art, Erotic Drawings, followed by an excursion into Saudek's free work (Paintings, Objects and Decorations) and the conclusion (Continuants, Disciples, Epigones) is dedicated to the strong influence of this brilliant cartoonist on his younger contemporaries and subsequent generations.
