About the author:
Henri-Émile-Benoit Matisse (1869 – 1954) was a French graphic artist, sculptor, set designer and architect. However, he is best known for his painting – he was renowned for his use of colour and his brilliant draughtsmanship. He was a leading figure in the art movement known as Fauvism. Along with Pablo Picasso, he is one of the artists who most influenced the development of art in the second half of the 20th century.
