About the author:

František Kupka (1871 – 1957) was a prominent Czech painter, graphic artist and illustrator, one of the founders of modern abstract painting. František Kupka's abstract work itself had its specific development, especially in the treatment of the theme of movement. Until 1930, the basis of his non-figurative paintings was realistic groundwork, but the peak period of Kupka's work is represented by so-called pure abstraction. Kupka's relationship to music also played an important role, which led to the development of the artistic direction of Orphism - a direction that brought painting closer to other arts (music, poetry). He spent most of his life in France.
