About the author:
Josef Werner (*1945) was born in Kraslice and has been living in Germany since 1968. He is a prominent artist in the fields of graphics, painting, and sculpture. In 1975, he completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Professor K. F. Dahmen.
Even during his studies, his interest focused on the etching technique, where he achieved a high degree of perfection. Werner's graphics transport us to a world of poetry, where there is still enough room for dreaming, a world between reality and fantasy. His works do not illustrate reality.
In his work, he rather finds his own world, subject to the laws of painting; harmonious, sometimes critical, full of absurdities, contradictions, but also humor, beyond the boundaries of reality. He has exhibited in over 150 solo exhibitions worldwide. He has won 37 national and international awards for his graphic work. He lives and works in Prien am Chiemsee in Bavaria.
