BANKSY DISMALAND
Dismaland was a temporary art project created by BANKSY in 2015 in the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England. The pop-up exhibition, prepared in secret on the site of the disused Tropicana lido, was a "sinister twist" on Disneyland. The project was disguised as a set-up for a major film shoot, and Banksy himself described it as a family theme park unsuitable for children. At Dismaland, Banksy issued his own currency and sold hand-sprayed prints on cardboard, made from the packaging material used for the installation. Dismaland was open for only 38 days, but during that time it attracted more than 150,000 visitors.
