BANKSY DISMALAND
Dismaland was a temporary art project created by BANKSY in 2015 in the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England. The pop-up exhibition, secretly prepared on the premises of the disused Tropicana lido, was a "sinister variation" on Disneyland. The project was disguised as a film set for a major motion picture, and Banksy himself described it as a family amusement park unsuitable for children. At Dismaland, Banksy issued his own currency and sold hand-stencilled spray paints on cardboard, which were made from the packaging material used for the installation. Dismaland was open for only 38 days but attracted over 150,000 visitors during that time.

While he transformed the streets of London, New York, Berlin, Timbuktu, and Tokyo into his gigantic canvases, other of his works hung on the walls of world institutions such as the British Museum, Tate Modern in London, or the Louvre in Paris.
