Dismaland was a temporary art project created by BANKSY in 2015 in the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England. The pop-up exhibition, secretly prepared on the premises of the disused Tropicana lido, was a "sinister twist" on Disneyland. The project was disguised as a film set for a major motion picture, and Banksy himself described it as a family amusement park unsuitable for children. At Dismaland, Banksy issued his own currency and sold hand-stencilled spray cans on cardboard made from packaging material used for the installation. Dismaland was open for only 38 days, but during that time it attracted over 150,000 visitors.
