About the author:
František Kupka (1871 – 1957) was a prominent Czech painter, graphic artist, and illustrator, one of the founders of modern abstract painting. František Kupka's abstract work itself had a specific development, especially in the treatment of the theme of movement. Until 1930, his non-figurative paintings were based on realistic foundations, but the peak period of Kupka's work is represented by so-called pure abstraction. Kupka's relationship to music also played an important role, leading to the development of the artistic movement known as Orphism - a movement that brought painting closer to other arts (music, poetry). He spent most of his life in France.
