WOLFGANG LOESCHE

Wolfgang Loesche (*1947) is a German artist who received a versatile artistic education. After school, he trained as a colour lithographer and then studied illustration, free graphics, and painting at the renowned University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Bielefeld from 1970 to 1974. Since 1983, the enchanting Disney character Donald Duck has been at the heart of his artistic work, evolving over four decades into the main protagonist of his captivating artworks, inspired by the vibrant pop art of the 1960s. Loesche approaches the works of famous pop artists and highlights the influence of comic book culture on the art scene. In his works, the motif is in the foreground, while the background is blurred with colourful strokes or lines. He masterfully succeeds in expressing emotions such as well-being, anger, joy, or fear.
