VOJTECH KOLENČÍK

Vojtěch Kolenčík (*1955) is a graphic artist, painter, and illustrator. He was born in Nitra, Slovakia. He studied under Professor Albín Brunovský at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava from 1974 to 1980. During his studies, his artistic vision began to take shape, influenced by the work of Paul Klee and certain tendencies of the so-called Danubian School.

Currently, he works as a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts within the Department of Graphic Art and Other Media. He leads the Studio of Free and Color Graphics. He devotes himself to painting, drawing, printmaking, book illustration, and graphic design.

He has exhibited his works in many solo exhibitions both at home and abroad, for example, in Berlin, Paris, Vienna, Prague, Ostrava, Bratislava, Nitra, and Banská Bystrica. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions, for instance, in Washington, New York, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Budapest, and others, as well as in Bratislava, Nitra, and Žilina.

In his graphic work, he strives to capture human emotional states and psychological conditions. He creates using the serigraphy technique, in which he utilizes the possibilities of combining painterly understood monochrome areas with a drawing component.
