STEFAN MILKOV

Stefan Milkov (*1955) is a Czech sculptor, designer, and musician with Bulgarian roots. He studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design, where he completed his studies in 1982. In the mid-1980s, he became involved in the activities of the newly emerging generation of postmodern artists, particularly around the unofficial "Confrontation" exhibitions.

In 1987, he became a founding member of the Tvrdohlaví (The Stubborn) group. Milkov's work often stems from an unorthodox treatment of mythological, legendary, or Christian motifs. His approach is postmodern, respecting the influences of modern sculpture from the first half of the 20th century.

Among his significant works is the monument to Nikola Tesla in Prague 6 – Dejvice, which he created in 2014. In addition to his sculptural work, Milkov also dedicates himself to design and music. He is the author of electric guitar designs for the leading Czech guitarist Peter Jurkovič.
