PAVEL ROUCKA

Pavel Roučka (*1942) studied at the Secondary Industrial School of Geodesy and Cartography in Prague. In 1995, he completed an internship at the Académie de Beaux-Arts in Paris. Between 1968 and 1971, he focused on set design and animated film in Belgium.

Since 1993, he has been teaching at the Summer Academy in Frauenau, Germany, and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht, Belgium. Throughout his career, Pavel Roučka has explored various art forms, including painting, graphic arts, ex-libris, illustration, set design, tapestries, and the creation of wooden objects.

Since the 1980s, he has concentrated on painting, drawing, and lithography. His paintings are notable for their expressively conceived figural compositions, unusual color palette, and unconventional working methods. Pavel Roučka's works are part of the collections of important galleries in the Czech Republic, including the National Gallery, as well as abroad, for example, in the United States, France, and Poland.
