KRISTÝNA ŠŤASTNÁ (CHRISTY)
Kristýna Šťastná, performing under the artistic name Christy, was born at the beginning of 1986 in a small village near Plzeň. Art has accompanied her throughout her life. From childhood, she was fascinated by the colors and shapes of the surrounding nature, which became the primary inspiration for her work. From an early age, she tried to capture the beauty and uniqueness of the moment – first with a brush, and later also with a camera. In addition to painting, she also devotes herself to ceramic work and enjoys experimenting with various materials.
She studied at the Primary Art School in Plzeň, where she mastered a wide range of artistic techniques and styles. She is convinced that every creator should try as many artistic approaches as possible and discover the one that suits them best. She also believes that the first thought is usually the strongest and most sincere.
She has always been fascinated by the human body and nature. This interest led her to study at a health school, where she met the renowned artist Květa Monhartová. Their friendship grew into a shared passion for literature, and for many years they exchanged their manuscripts.
Her closest artistic movement is Cubism, which allows her to view the world from different angles and break it down into individual parts. In her work, she enjoys playing with colors, shapes, and symbolism. She is also close to hyperbole and parody of life itself, which, according to her, naturally resonates with the Cubist concept.
Christy is an artist body and soul. She projects her passion for art into every piece – from abstract compositions to realistic portraits. She is not afraid to experiment, seek new expressive means, and constantly develop her distinctive artistic handwriting.
She lived abroad for many years, and many of her paintings now adorn private collections outside the Czech Republic. She currently lives with her family in the Slavkov Forest, whose pristine nature has become a significant source of inspiration. In her work, she focuses primarily on nudes and comically stylized characters. Already during her school years, she was fascinated by magazines with cartoons and dreamed of one day combining fine art with humor and joy. She believes that despite all life's obstacles, it is important to maintain perspective and a sense of lightness.
In addition to painting, she also intensively devotes herself to photography. She is most attracted to fleeting moments, which she tries to capture in a sensitive and poetic way. Her photographs strive to preserve the unique atmosphere of a moment that may never be repeated.
She considers freedom to be one of the greatest values in life, which her parents provided her since childhood. They supported her in all forms of creativity – from modeling with clay to working with wood to painting on the walls of her children's room. Thanks to this support, she was able to fully develop and now devote herself to what truly fulfills her.
Art is Christy's way of expressing her view of the world and sharing it with others. Her wish is for her paintings and photographs to bring joy, inspiration to people, and remind them of the beauty of the present moment and the colors that surround us every day.
