JANA JEMELKOVA

Jana Jemelková (1928 - 2018) was a Czech painter, draughtswoman, graphic artist, illustrator, and author of bell decorations from the Dytrych family workshop in Brodek u Přerova. The artist's graphic work is particularly associated with linocut and drypoint techniques, and later also stencil prints. Her delicate drypoints were easily recognizable manifestations of the Moravian branch of Czech graphics at joint exhibitions in the 1980s. In them, a strong relationship to nature, or rather to natural phenomena as such, was evident. Jana Jemelková demonstrates a sense for economical linear and planar expression of complex spatial perceptions, as well as the ability to imbue lines and planes with a distinctive life. As if they were having a silent conversation with us about the meaning of things. Jana Jemelková is represented in the collections of the Olomouc Museum of Art, the Moravian Gallery in Brno, Charles University in Prague, the National Library in Prague, the Museo dell'Informazione, Comune di Senigallia, and many others.
