EX LIBRIS AND SMALL GRAPHICS EXHIBITION
We warmly welcome you to our Salon of Ex Libris and Small Graphic Art, which presents and makes accessible a diverse graphic artistic creation by both Czech and foreign authors. Graphic art has a long, rich tradition and prestige in our country, and therefore we dedicate the end of the year and the pre-Christmas period to it in our Gallery.
The exhibition presents a selection of works by leading contemporary graphic artists, among whom you will find names such as: Jiří Anderle, Oldřich Kulhánek, Vladimír Suchánek, Veronika Jelenová, Oldřich Jelen, Marina Richter, Jiří Slíva, and many other Czech and foreign authors.
The Salon of Ex Libris and Small Graphic Art offers visitors a diverse showcase of graphic techniques: lithography, etching, aquatint, drypoint, linocut, and mezzotint.
Our exhibition will also feature the printing press of Mr. Petr Korbelář, who has been printing lithographs since 1993 and collaborates with a hundred leading Czech artists. These include authors well-known in our Gallery – Oldřich Kulhánek, Oldřich Jelen, Vladimír Suchánek, Marina Richter, Martin Raudenský, Jakub Špaňhel, etc. During our exhibition, you will have a unique opportunity to see how lithography is created. In the early evening of November 25th and December 9th, we will jointly print limited editions of works by Veronika Jelenová and Jiří Slíva, which you can purchase directly from us and take home to gift yourself or your loved ones with this unique present under the Christmas tree.
Printing from stone, or lithography, is a graphic printing technique from a flat surface that uses the chemical properties of grease and water on a special stone. The artist draws on fine-grained limestone with a greasy lithographic crayon, ink, or chalk, and after chemical preparation of the stone, applies printing ink to it. The drawn areas accept the printing ink, while the undrawn parts repel the ink. Through this process, the lithographic stone with the drawing is ready for printing.
We wish you a pleasant journey through the world of graphic art, which you can enhance with a visit to our Moselle Wine Bar and a tasting of delicious wines.
