FRANTIŠEK RINGO ČECH | RINGO EVER, REMBRANDT NEVER | 6. 5.—1. 6. 25
We welcome you to the exhibition entitled František Ringo Čech – Ringo ever Rembrandt never, which presents a core part of the artist's work. The paintings, created in a naïve style, are full of colors, simple lines and stories that force viewers to think about everyday life. Typical motifs of his work are figures, landscapes and humorous and satirical scenes from life, which reflect his approach to depicting the world in a comprehensible and light-hearted way.
Frantisek Ringo Cech (9. 7. 1943) became famous mainly as a musician, lyricist, theater artist and writer. He has been painting since 1973 and has gained a wide circle of fans with his original technique and humorous themes. In his works, he glosses over the life around him and expresses himself critically and incorrectly on the topics of the development of the world and society.
He studied percussion at the State Conservatory in Prague with Prof. Vlasák. During his studies, he was active in the Pavel Smetáček Traditional Jazz Study Group and at the same time became a founding member of the group Olympic , with whom he performed at the Semafor Theatre. After graduating from the conservatory in December 1965, he went to Las Vegas in the USA as an actor of the Jiří Srnec Black Theatre, where he eventually spent 14 months. This was the end of his era performing with the Olympic group, and he was also declared the best Czechoslovak drummer. His stage name Ringo, after drummer Ringo Starr from the Beatles, also comes from this time.
After returning from the USA, he returned to Semafor Theatre , where he became the head of the orchestra. He performed with Jiří Šlitr and took part in the performances of Šimek and Grossmann. At this time he also founded his own rock band "Shut Up" with singer Viktor Sodoma and created hits such as "Žá rlivý Kakadu" or " Tyger z Indie" . After four years, Jiří Schelinger joined the group, and with him came a whole series of hits such as "Co ž takhle dat si spénát", "Jsem prů blázen jen" or "Frozen Strawberries" with lyrics by František Ringo Čech.
In 1985 he founded Chekhov's Provisional Theatre , and became its main protagonist and director. As an author, he wrote a number of plays for the theatre, the most famous of which is "
