ALENA KUPČÍKOVÁ | HIDDEN IN A WOMAN | 17. 5.—13. 6. 24

The exhibition titled Hidden in a Woman presents a cross-section of the broad-spectrum work of artist Alena Kupčíková. The author finds inspiration in the everyday world and also in herself, in her feminine essence, experience and motherhood. The last decade of Alena Kupčíková's work is joyful and fulfilling. Black and white linear, figurative compositions, accompanied by a warm, dynamic accent of red tone, refer to sensuality and femininity much more strongly than in the author's previous works. The reflected joy and playfulness can be found in large-format lithographs, paintings, enameled reliefs, objects and wall clocks. The exhibition is also complemented by works using Czech Preciosa crystal and, above all, the famous reliefs from pubic hair, called by the author "chlupatice". The latest work in this exhibition includes large-format lithographs with sports - golf and tennis themes. Sport is a rare theme in the artist's work, bringing new dynamics to her compositions and refreshing thematically a purely feminine exhibition. With her work, Alena Kupčíková likes to open up social taboos, such as sexuality, eroticism and female intimacy. The theme of the exhibition is the celebration of women and their natural femininity.

Despite the typical erotic nature of her works, and the often criticized excessive femininity, Alena Kupčíková places an accent of feminine softness in her figurative compositions and speaks to the viewer with very fragile poetry.
