VERNISÁŽ VÝSTAVY KLÁRY SEDLO

EXHIBITION OPENING KLÁRY SEDLO

An integral part of the Marilyn Monroe 100 project is the parallel exhibition series Women in Art, held in the Gothic Hall of the Czech Gallery of Modern Art. This unique accompanying project will present eight contemporary female artists throughout the exhibition, who will gradually showcase their individual exhibitions at two-week intervals.

Klára Sedlo primarily focuses on painting, particularly oil painting and classical easel painting. In addition to her painting work, she also engages in original literature, illustration, and the creation of artist's books. In her short stories and comic projects, she further develops themes that also appear in her paintings. In 2022, she published the short story Lami.

Her work navigates the boundary between reality, fantasy, and absurdity. She finds inspiration in contemporary kitsch, folklore, rituals, bizarre objects, and psychological phenomena. Based on fragments of everyday reality, she creates distinctive stories, imaginary legends, and symbolic worlds that she transfers to canvas. For a long time, she has also been dedicated to the theme of the Voynich manuscript, whose motifs she has explored in an extensive cycle of paintings.
