27. 2. 2025 | OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION VLADIMÍR SUCHÁNEK | PRINCES OF CZECH LITHOGRAPHY
On February 27, 2025, we officially opened the exhibition Vladimír Suchánek | Prince of Czech lithography. Vladimír Suchánek (1933–2021) was one of the most important Czech artists of the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. His color lithographs earned him recognition all over the world. An exceptional man of many talents and abilities, an academic painter, graphic artist and illustrator, who also entered the consciousness of the widest audience as a creator of postage stamps and a master of graphic exlibris.
During the opening, we also christened our new book - the poetry collection EVA by Jiří Žáček, which is complemented by beautiful illustrations by Vladimír Suchánek. Mr. Žáček will celebrate his 80th birthday this year, and this book, which contains 40 poems and 40 illustrations, has been published for this anniversary. The guest of the evening and the baptism was, among other special guests, also the actor Miloslav Mejzlík, who recited selected poems from this work. On March 13, a guided tour will take place in our Gallery from 5:30 PM and from 6:00 PM, an autograph session with Jiří Žáček, to which you are cordially invited.
Besides color lithographs by Vladimír Suchánek is now in our Gallery also exhibited is a lithographic stone with a drawing, which was never printed on paper during Suchánek's lifetime. Thanks to the great printer Petr Korbelář, and thanks to the heirs of the copyright, it was created on the occasion of our exhibition limited edition of only 100 numbered pieces work entitled Memory of Summer. And you can not only see this stone, but also the lithograph, which you can also purchase.
